Splash: Save the Whales App

PROBLEM: Whales are going extinct, their population decreases due to hunting and natural causes.
GOAL: Design and develop an app to raise funds for whale research and conservation
LINKS: Splash Figma file, case study summary

I created a concept brand, Splash, it is a fictional non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation and conservation of endangered whale species. The organization aims to raise awareness, mobilize action, and facilitate impactful initiatives to ensure the long-term survival of these magnificent creatures. Splash provides information on their endangered status and ways to support their survival.

User Research

I did user research for my app development. This involved creating two personas with the characteristics and needs of my target audience. I conducted a comprehensive competitive audit to evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of comparable applications in the market. I employed various ideation techniques for creativity and to generate novel concepts. I conducted user interviews, categorizing the notes by the corresponding five users (A-yellow, B-pink, C-blue, D-green, E-orange). I synthesized all the gathered insights into an affinity diagram, facilitating a holistic understanding of the research findings. Below are key excerpts highlighting significant discoveries from this extensive process.

Lo-Fi and Hi-Fi Prototypes

I implemented my findings to create wireframes and turned those into low-fidelity prototypes.

Case Study

I implemented my findings to create wireframes and turned those into low-fidelity prototypes. After the initial concepts were tested, I designed my high-fidelity prototypes. I collected all my research insights, design iterations, site maps, and final recommendations into a comprehensive case study. Below is the project overview. This app was designed for the Google UX Design Coursera Certificate.
